FSU and FAMU
Florida State University and Florida A&M University have two of the best music programs in the country. Live music – jazz, symphonic, winds, drums, strings – can all be heard throughout the year with thousands of students honing their craft. The biggest concert put on at FSU is the PRISM Concert, held at Ruby Diamond Concert Hall. PRISM is a five-night concert series put on by the FSU School of Music that features bold and dynamic music performed from all areas of the concert hall. The show features the FSU Marching Chiefs, and is one of the most exciting performances in town!
FAMU is home of the world-famous Marching 100. Organized in 1892 with 16 members, “The Marchingest, Playingest Band in the Land” has grown over the last 130 years to over 420 members. This storied HBCU Marching Band has performed at some of the most epic events in the world – from nationally televised events, to NFL games, to cheering on the Rattlers during football games. In June 2022, FAMU’s Marching 100 danced and chanted down a bright yellow runway at the Louvre Museum as it played at the Louis Vuitton Men’s Fashion Show in Paris!
